My Canterbury Tale

On an average weekend, we usually set aside one day for relaxation and the other day for a trip of some sort. Daddy is game to go practically anywhere*, just as long as Mommy comes up with “A Plan”. She has to tell him where he’s gonna drive us, and little landmarks we’re going to have to stop at along the way and how much the admission price is going to be to the place we’re going to visit. If the cost is more than £5 Daddy always shouts, “But I bought cars for less than that!” (Daddy once obtained a car for trading in a sleeping bag, so he knows what he’s talking about.)

Today we took a trip to Canterbury. It’s a pretty and ancient city, and we had a swell time. On the way to the cathedral, we stopped by the local museum to snoop around.

The Canterbury Museum was a cool place. They provided old style clothing you could play with, and they even had a piece of medieval poo for people to smell! Wow, the museum people really wanted visitors to have an authentic experience of medieval life!

Later on we visited the cathedral. It was sooo big, and I know I didn’t get to see everything there. As we walked down into the crypt, there were signs telling everyone to shut up. Much to Mom’s displeasure I began making little yipping noises because the entire place carried an echo, and my yips bounced off the walls for some time.

We’ll probably visit Canterbury again. Next time we’ll have to look up old Geoffrey Chaucer and take him out for some pub grub. What an adventure that’ll be.

*Except up Norf, where his car may get stolen.

My First Mop Chop

Today we walked past a barber shop called Mr Toppers. Mr Topper trims kid’s hair for £6, which is soooo cheap!

I begged and pleaded with Mom to pay Mr Topper to shape my hair and make it look better. My hair has never ever been cut, and most other babies I know are much more tidy in appearance than I am.

Mom finally relented and we shuffled inside.

Well, I gotta say that barber shop is soooo cool. They have a chair especially for babies (or really teeny adults) that has a horse’s head in the center of the seat. Imagine getting your hair cut and riding a pony at the same time!

Sadly, today was Mr Topper’s day off, so we got a lady instead. She was real nice, although she didn’t follow my explicit instructions.

As Miss Barber was getting out her scissors, I informed her I could possibly be Billy Idol’s love child, and my hair needed to be spikey to reflect my lineage. Instead she followed Mom’s directions, and completely disputed my Billy Idol theory.

I must admit my hair looks loads better, but I can’t wait until I have have it just as I want it. Next year perhaps!
